Now, there's someone using his head. I tried to talk my son into doing the same with his but "no joy", he wasn't too worried about his gutted car having a hole in the back.

Re: Battery in the Back

Or hang the whole friggin mess under the car, hidden by the bumper, except for a removable lever on the shut-off switch....... That eliminates a hole in the body or tail light, and eliminates the need for the NHRA mandfatory sealed and vented battery box.

Only downside is that most tracks require a kill switch on the outside of the car if the battery isn't in the stock location.
I made a gas tank to go right there. I think Nitro Dave has them for sale as well, I just prefer to make stuff like that.

Re: Battery in the Back

When you relocate your battery, NHRA requires that is include a switch that disconnects the battery from the system, and kills all power to the car. It must be accessible from the outside of the car, and clearly labeled for "on" and "off" positions. Check JEG's and Summit.... they each offer several different switches, including push/pull handles for remote location.

Re: Battery in the Back

Does it have to cut the positive side of the battery or does it matter? I've never been 100% clear on this.
