Over the valve cover looms and plug wires?

Do I need custom plug wires to fit with over the valve cover looms? Or can I just buy a set of taylor or msd pre-fit wires for my 94Z?

You need a set that you cut to length and crimp the ends on yourself. AFAIK they don't make any pre-made sets that works with the OVC setup.

I have never crimped my own plug wires, is it difficult to do?

I've never done it either, I ran my wires in the stock location. I wouldn't think its very hard to do. Do a search on this in LT1 tech, they talk about it all the time. I have heard the hardest part it is sliding the boots over the wires, due to tight clearances. Thunder Racing sells an entire kit including wires, looms, and crimping tool for $100. Check it out HERE and scroll to the bottom of the page.

I had the VERTICAL LOOMS to route them along the side of the Valve Cover, so you can still see the top of the VC better looking IMO, but Crimping wires aren't bad, just a PAIN take ur time, and make sure the connections are good and snug!!!! I'll keep you posted on how it goes when the motor is ready for that part of assembly

Cutting the wires is easy, crimping them is easy...but getting those damn boots on is impossible!

I just did the OVC install with the side mounts when I did my long tube install. I used this website to get and ide a of what to do.

http://ken.lowrance.com/projects/OVC...OVCInstall.htm

Helped out tremedously use alot of the silicone spray, and you might want to get an extra set of cutters. After a couple of wires the crimpers stopped cutting the wires all the way through, the spiro wound wire would just unwind. Also make sure you spray the wire up far enough to slide the boot up so you can but the opti end on. Make sure to look at the pictures to make sure you are crimping the ends right or they will not go into the opti. Other than that is was not too bad, did take a while I wanted to be careful about the routing but just used the separators and a couple of zip ties on the driver's side. I routed the wires in the stock location on the passenger's side. Make sure you route the wires on the passensger's side before you put the boots on, makes it alittle easier.
