I posted a thread a couple months ago asking if anyone knew if a Firebird gauge cluster would fit in a 97+ Camaro dash... You're saying it's a direct fit into the opening? What about the shape of the plug for the Firebird? Is it the same shape plug as the 97+ Camaros? I want a 97 Z28 cluster, but at the rate I'm going, it will be a year before I find one that I can win on ebay... I might settle for Firebird gauges since it's the same basic design.
Yes the firebird and TA cluster is wired the same and bolts right in place of the Camaro cluster.

Being the creator of this thread, I'm am complete with my dash swap. I am much more happier with the 97+ dash. I love the new look and the quality is much better, no more rattles from the old dash bezel!

Just waiting for the top dash piece to arrive at the dealer.
