any1 replaced hatch stabilizer bars???

any1 replaced hatch stabilizer bars???

ready to replace my stabilizer bars in the hatch area. what tools do i need and what all needs to come off????

They come off using torx bits. Think its a T45 one on each side behind the passenger seat. The part up top come off by prying something under the metal clamp part.

Make sure you support that hatch before disconnecting anything. Two hundred plus pounds of hatch falling on you is gone to hurt.

Not bars-Gas Charged Hatch STRUTS. Available at all good Auto Parts stores.

Everytime I changed the shocks I always held the hatch with my knee.

prolly woulda been easier if I had a prop tho,

I purchased mine at my local chevy dealership in the parts department. hmmmm i wonder what size "star" bit I will need to take off those 2 metal thingies that the back seat clips on to ........any1 know???

If you mean the part the seat latches to so you can fold it down when you unlatch it... that part doesn't need to come out. I just checked and the torx screws that do need to come out take a T50 and so do the bolts that the passenger seat latches to if you still want to take those out.

cool, ya ur right it was ez. i was makin it harder then it shoulda been. only took me 10 min. once i really looked at it. geeez that hatch is HEAVY..... thanks 4 the help
