Any one else have this weird problem? (96 Z factory alarm issue)

I just picked up a 96 Z and when I lock the doors and the alarm sets, regardless of if the remote or the power lock switch is used, after the horn beeps twice softly to advise the alarm is set, about 10 seconds later it goes off loudly one time (meaning two loud sounds of the horn), and that's it. Almost like when you set off the shock sensor and it just gives you that warning without actually setting off the alarm... It does this every time the alarm is set, no matter what. I bought a brand new remote and programmed it to the car, it does the same thing...

Has anyone else's car done this? Any ideas what the fix is? Possibly something with the BCM or shock sensor?

Thanks in advance
Dave

My 97Z's factory alarm had a similar deal. The shock sensor is mounted with 2 sided tape. Mine had fallen off and wedged between the spare tire and the fenderwell. It eliminated the cushion of the tape mount and made it SUPER sensitive. I think it was still freaking out from the impact of the door shutting when the alarm powered up, hence my warning beeps.

I'm not sure about the OE alarm, but I've had aftermarket alarms with current sensors that didn't agree with amplifiers that powered down a few seconds after the car did. So if you're got a system, that might also account for it. Good luck!

I will check the shock sensor, was yours doing it at the same time mine was? Only after you lock the car with the remote, the doors are already closed.. it's almost like secondary feedback, but I know it's not normal. I dont have a system in this car so that couldn't be it.
