anti theft problem

OK, 2nd question of the day. I have a '95 Z28 that I bought a month ago. I previously owned an '01 V6. The '95 has an anti theft system that keeps activating if I just look at it cross-eyed. It goes off if I open and close the hood, or just sometimes for no reason. Worse, it goes off in the car wash. I don't take it through, and the car wash jockeys have to push it out at the end when they get in. Of course they have difficulty steering with no power on, so it's dangerous. When it activates, the lights and all dash lights flash and the car won't start. Activating the door unlock key disarms it. I have the shop manual but can find nothing on it, only the VATS passkey stuff, but this doesn't sound like that as once the door unlock key is pressed everything disarms.

Do you think this is aftermarket? I need to disable it. If aftermarket, how would they get the dash lights to flash - I thought that was PCM controlled?

Re: anti theft problem

A further online search led me to a toggle switch under the dash. That did it. Interesting, I can find nothing about that switch in the shop or owners manual.

No light flashing control on a 95. Your alarm is aftermarket. That is why you find nothing in the shop manual.

shoebox,

Here's where I found out how to do it:

The LED is on the same panel as the OBDII connector.
