Am I gaining traction, or losing power?

During last winter, when my car only had a CAI and 2OTL catback, when I was in first gear (maybe even second) I would be able to easily break the tires lose and just spin them. No chirping or squeeling, just spinning. And I mean on dry pavement, not ice or snow (duh) and the temp outside would usualy be around -5 to -15*C (23 to 5*F)

But now that it's summer.. and I have my Jet-Hot LT's and 1.6 RR, I can't do that at all. My tires are P275-40-R17 BF Goodrich Comp T/A's (all season tires) During the winter I just figured since they are all season.. that they just had really crappy traction.

I just tested my traction today. It's 22*C (72*F) and it's complete overcast (no sun to warm up the pavement, and no droplets of rain or anything) I was in 1st and doing about 2-3K RPMs and hit it.. and I just squeeled and was hopping around (bumpy back road) On other occations I just squeel (smooth road) But it, for some reason, doesn't "feel" as strong as it used to. Or seem to pull as hard.

So my questions are... how much extra traction could the temperature difference from winter to summer give me? I know this sounds like a fuel filter problem as well.. should I give that I shot? (changing it I mean)

It's just hard to tell if I'm losing power, or gaining traction.

Thanks!

your just gaining traction because of the warm temperatures. You didn't hear any screeching in the winter because it was too cold and you had no traction, my car does the same thing.

cold pavement and cold rubber make for very noticable drop in traction
