Alternator running at 15.4 volts!
Alternator running at 15.4 volts!
what kind of problems could arise from the alternator over charging the battery. i have been having a lot of problems with the car dying lately so i decided to have the alternator tested that i just had rep[laced about 2months ago. and it failed by overcharging. it was rated at 15.4 volts.
could this fry the battery. im on my third one in 2 months. they work for about a week and then they wont hold a charge. could the alternator be killing them by overcharging them?

Normal voltage output should be around 13.8-14.2 volts at the battery.... Seems like the internal voltage regulator is bad... I would get a different alt. if it was me.... Overcharging can hurt the battery and cause it to go bad.....

In fact I think Jason is having that exact same problem now isn't he?
It will overcharge the battery and fry it.
