oh well, since it is for sale i wanted to be sure it is working 100% before selling it.
are the compressors from 93 - 97 compatible with each model year, within the specified timeframe? thanks!

94-97 is the same. 93 is different..
if your thinking about getting a used compressor.. simply put.. DON'T!!!.. it;s deadly. there is a 90% chance that teh front seal will never seat again and it will just leak out bad. also it;s a wearing part, it;s like buying a motor from a 94 and expecting it to run right forever.
also a caution.. if the compressor locked up your gonna need to do a full system flush and replace the H valve and drier

ouch!!!! that is not what i wanted to hear, lol! but thanks! is there a way to tell if the compressor is locked up? when i had the refill can with gauge it showed over 70 psi. is that a clear cut sign? thanks, i do appreciate your input. it helps me to determine what my next steps are. i can't believe this! doh! it sounds like it will be a much more expensive fix than i first thought!
also is an H valve the high pressure valve?
and if the drier has to come out screw it! i would have to pull the entire f'ing dash!
this is not a race car, lol!!!
taner

ok. lets dicect this some..
first, the H valve is teh expantion valve. it;s located where the 2 ac lines enter the black evacp core housing.
The drier is the roand canister located near teh battery. your thinking of the dash coming out for the evap core whitch you do not have to do.
Now. why is the compressor shot? when you were filling it you say 70 pounds on the gauge right? 2 things
1: on a full charge with the compressor NOT comming on your gonna see upwords of 120 PSI.
2: while charging pressure from the can will shoot the gauge up to around 70-90 PSI
so the ONLY time that the gauge should read in the correct range (35-45 psi) is when you have a full charge, the compressor is on, and no open can being charged
so.. if the compressor is locked up it will not spin, the pully (where the belt rides) will but the center part will not, try and turn it..

that is exactly what i was seeing!
