Question Airbag Coil Assembly?

Rebuilt my front suspension and I didn't lock my steering wheel in place. Now I've got an airbag light. Guessing I damaged the airbag coil assembly. Has anybody done this? Was the damage repairable (i.e. fix the cable assembly) or do I need to replace the coil assembly?

Thanks

the only time that should happen is if you turn the rack with the steerin kuckle removed. but even then it should be ok if you got it back in the same spot. are you sure that you damaged it?

EDIT: if it's not broke you can always just center the wheel and then readjust the clock spring

I haven't verified that it's broken, just preparing before I disassemble the steering assembly. I did rotate the steering wheel with the linkage removed. I was having trouble clearing the headers with the new BMR K Member.

I'm curious how the coil assembly breaks...is it the wiring harness that leads to the coil and can it be repaired (solder connections and cover with shrink tubing)?

the coil can not be repaired, you need to replace it

it is made like this

picture a long thin strip of plastic, in it are multiple traces of metal, this is then wound up(like a clock spring) inside a plastic housing, the top of which turns in relation to the bottom, the metal traces are connected to the top(one end) and the bottom(other end), this unit is located between the column and the steering wheel

it breaks( at one of the ends) when turned to far

you can get the code scanned and see what it is. if it is the clock spring the ony way to know if it;s bad is to take it out and depress the locking tab and try and turn it. if it turns and turns and turns it;s bad. if it stops turing it;s good
