air in radiator

How do I get it out? should the bleed cap be open or closed?

Leave the radiator cap on, heat it up and open both bleeder screws. When the fluid coming out isn't bubbling and its a solid stream, tighten them. Do this a few times and you should be good to go.

sorry, I just realized you are working on an LS-1. I have no idea on your car but for future reference if you have an LT-1 it will work that way.

I also am not skilled doing this to an LS1. But I do know if you get the car up on ramps it will cause all the air to come towards the surface better. Since the front of the car(where the radiator is) is higher than the rest, the air naturally goes up. Get it up there and get the car up to operating temp. that way the thermostat will open and start circulating the fluid. Add some mixture to the overflow tank also so it will suck in liquid while the air bleeds out and it won't replace excaping air with incoming air. Good luck. I'd assume an LS1 has bleeder screws like an LT1, dunno where they're at though.

No bleeders, leave the cap off and warm it up, turn the heater on high, full hot, keep the rad full, once the thermostat opens and the upper rad hose(from the drivers side of the rad to the top of the water pump) gets hot, make sure the vents are blowing hot, then put the cap on, all doon

take it for a ride and watch the temp gauge, should never go over the 210 mark
