its the dirt clinging to the oil that acts as a filter.... you NEED to oil it.


on a side note, you can change the color of your filter by buying diffrent color FILTER oils.... summit does a great example of showing that in their new catalog...

Go to your local auto parts store and pick up a K&N filter recharging kit. It comes with the cleaner and the oil. I think its around $10.

Filter charging kits are like any oil. Basically all the same and it really doesnt matter whos brand you use. I like blue thats 1 reason I got a Powershot, other reason its made for a LS1. Unlike a K&N which is made for a jeep which is why you need their gasket. Now someone will argue 1 charging kits better then another and I expect that here. As for the dealer before or if you go back to GM for anything put back the paper filter. Avoid giving them any BS excuse to back off a claim

I wont argue that..

In fact. .If price is an issue then I would suggest the AMSOIL filter.
Its foam based and uses a charging kit that costs 1/2 that of the others.
Plus its all black so it looks sleek.
