Air bag delete.

Are there any write ups for an air bag delete. So far I've deleted HVAC, ABS, ASR, EGR, and AIR. Just looking to free up some weight and make things simpler. I'd eventually like to incorporate some 5 or 6 point harnesses into a roll cage/bar so I don't think an air bag will do much.

Re: Air bag delete.

I did it in my 94 when I changed the steering wheel. I pulled out the clock spring and dismantled the air bag from the steering wheel. To keep the PCM from throwing a code, I taped the clock spring to the firing mechanism and connected it to the harness like usual. Put the 2 taped units under the dash and never had a check engine light for 5 years.

I sold the car and told the guy I wanted my steering wheel back, which I did get. He kept the quick release to pull the wheel off.

P L E A S E post on the correct forum. Air bags aren't "engine" tech.

that way is no fun, look for the yellow wires and cut them with the ignition on, wait for dust to settle, fix steering wheel...

Re: Air bag delete.

I don't think the air bag is connected to the PCM. It has its own control module, that turns on the "air bag" light, not the SES.
