Adding Oil to A/C System

Does anyone know the exact amount of ounces that are supposed to go in a new replacement A/C compressor as well as how much oil ( in ounces ) should be in the entire system period...? Thanks

Re: Adding Oil to A/C System

I read this somewhere and not sure how accurate this is. The system holds 8oz of oil and if replacing A/C parts add 2oz per part. Example.. if replace compressor 2oz, dryer 2oz, evaporator 2oz, condensor 2oz. When I replaced my compressor and dryer 2 years ago on my Z I added 4oz. to replenish the oil on the 2 parts that I replaced and to this date everything has been fine. Maybe someone can chime in with some more accurate info to confirm this.

The easiest way to measure excactly how mush you need is to pour the amount out of your old compressor into a graduated cylinder and refill using that exact amount. But, some compressors come with oil already in them. Also, make sure to add R14-a compatible oil.
