AC questions
AC questions
Alright, since it is extremely hot in the south, I wanted to fix my AC (in the 95.) It blows out (maybe slightly cooler air than ambient) hot. Went to check with a cheap gauge and maybe do a refill and it reads around 40psi. Thing is, the compressor clutch is not engaging so that reading might not be right at all.
I pulled the PCM fuse underhood (#8) and put it back in to see if it would kick on. No dice so I'm wondering if it's safe to jump in the fuse box.
I was looking at this video
which, while very informative, makes a note that the 3 wire pressure sensor shouldn't be jumped. Am I to assume that he means that I can't jump the sensor itself but am clear to jump the compressor with the paperclip method in the fuse box?
Assuming I can do that, hopefully it gets it going. If not, I guess this method might be next

Now, if that doesn't work, I suppose I could get some "real" gauges to measure both high and low from Harbor Freight or elsewhere. I pretty much made up my mind that if the compressor is shot, I'll probably just leave it be since it's such an old car and I'm not willing to shell out that money for a replacement (and can't do it myself really as I have zero garage space/tools down here.)
I've been doing a lot of searching but just want to clear this before trying it. Thanks in advance for any help.
EDIT: SOLVED. Jumped the compressor (thankfully it wasn't bad) and it allowed me to add freon. Now just gonna see how long this lasts before leaking out.
