AC problems

so when i was at car craft i was running my A/C whenever i was driving because it was so hot. Eventually the AC gradually got warmer and warmer, as my car began to run very hot. i took my car home and put it in the garage for a few days. when i got in to drive it again, the AC would not cool down very much.

any guesses as to why this is?

Re: AC problems

no way to know without seeing high and low side pressures. Make sure that fans are working with AC operation. Other then that your just guessing without any information. Could be a ton of things.

Re: AC problems

It could be anything from needing recharged to need a new compressor. I'd try recharging your a/c and if that doesn't work, you might have to bite the bullet and buy a new compressor. Personally, I just deleted mine since it sucks gas when it's on and never really worked all that great to begin with when the car was new.

Re: AC problems

Visit your local "radiator" shop for a check up. Regular shop will kill you. The AC refrigerant is expensive, so rather than have to pay for it again if your problem is something else, you are better off to find out what is really wrong with it. Radiator shops have all the diagnostic tools and will pin point your problem. JMHO

Re: AC problems

turn the a/c on and with the car running and see if the compressor is even turning on, it may be low on pressure and just turned the compressor off. the front of the compressor should be spinning when it is working. Hope this help, I'm going through the same thing right now, but I think my opti going back is causing the computer to shut it off. hope it get's figured out soon, it's getting hot around here. Later
