Re: AC Problem *NEED HELP*

I saw in a schematic that the ECM will not allow the compressor to turn on if there is a HVAC code until the code is cleared. A HVAC code willl not set an ses light or anything else. How can I check the codes and How can I clear them if there are codes set. I can not get the compressor to turn on for the life of me. I have my multimieter now. My gauge says there is pressure in the low side...

Re: AC Problem *NEED HELP*

Well it turns out I must have had a HVAC code, 'cause after I disconnected the battery and reconnected it, I could get the compressor to cycle and take refrigerant. Put in two cans and tha AC is working good.

Re: AC Problem *NEED HELP*

sorry it took so long for my reply.

ok.. lets start at the relay.

turn the key to the on position and remove the compressor relay. turn teh AC switch off. hook your meter to ground on one side and select volts scale. probe all the wires in the relay sockt and you should come up with (2) 12 volt hot feeds. do? yes? move on. no? check the A/C cruise fuse. if good follow the wires from teh fuse to teh relay and repair as needed.

next. put your one prob on positive and probe the 2 non hot termonals. one should show a full ground. this is the output to the compressor. take a small jumper wire and connet that ground to one of teh hot termonals in the sockt. you should imediatly hear the compressor click. remove the wire. did the compressor click? yes? move on. no? unplug the wire at the compresor. leave the relay jump wire in and test for a hot and a ground at the compressor connector. if your lacking 1 then look for a bad ground or borken wire. if you have both but still no click plug it back on and wack the compressor clutch with a hammer (don;t over do it). then hold a metal object onto the clutch. if you feel a magnetic pull but still no engagement you need a compressor.

next.. remove the jumper, start the car and turn the ac on. the last termonal that was not hot or the ground to the compressor that had no signal before should now be ground. see if it is (this is what I bet your lacking). that is the compressor control signal from the computer based on other imputs. get this far and if thats what your lacking I will help you see whats up with that
