97 rear hatch strut removal bit size question

97 rear hatch strut removal bit size question

What size star bit do i need to remove the struts from my rear hatch? I need to know so i get the right tool..Thanks

I beleive it is a T50 "torx" socket, can't remember quite off hand. You might as well buy the full rail which can be obtained at a auto parts store, Sears, ect. as the other sizes will come into play in other areas.

I just did this last weekend. My 3/8" drive Torx socket is a T50 as already mentioned. But needed a 1/2" drive breaker bar to get the damn bolt loose. It's on there tight!

cool...Mine looks tight too...

I HAVE THE SET THAT UP T0 45...TIME TO GET MORE

Look on the bright side, there are only a few more sizes above what you got.

I'm pretty sure they also used some kind of Loc-Tite or thread sealer in addition to being tight. So that is why it was such a pain to get loose.
