'94 Z28 with manual transmission issue
'94 Z28 with manual transmission issue
I have a '94 Z28 with the 6 speed manual. The car has 98,000 miles. The issue is the transmission occasionally slips out of reverse when the clutch is being released or very shortly afterwards. Can anyone tell me if this is a known problem and if so, is there a recommended fix that doesn't cost more than the car is worth? Appreciate any feedback. Thanks. Mark

Shoebox has a link to the T56 repair manual. On page 1-3, at the bottom, it has info on the cause of the trans jumping out of reverse.

Basically, it's saying the reverse synchro is shot. But the problem may be made worse by problems with the reverse lockout solenoid. Does the lever move smoothly to the right, into the reverse gate, or do you have to force it hard to get it into the gate?
