check the mount.

go with an energy suspension mount or something similar....they are designed to interlock and won't break as easy as stock ones

The stock torque arm connects to the tailshaft of the tranny housing. If the mount breaks, the tranny will lift substantially on acceleration, and drop back down on the cross-member on braking. Are you hearing it bang into the floor when it shifts?

best thing you can do is get under the car and see whats up. i had the same symptoms when my rubber tranny mount broke.
Also, if you talking about the trans energy suspension mount, isn't that polyurethane? and when paired with the stock rubber motor mounts, doesn't that raise the possibility of cracking the tranny tail shaft, and creating driveshaft vibration? its just what i heard. when you go all poly mouts though, these issues wont come up.

If it is the mount (sounds like it is the culprit), you can just use a stock LS1 mount and it will work fine. It is a direct bolt on and it is stronger than the LT1 stock one.

I've been running the ES poly tranny mount, and the stock rubber motor mounts for 12 years. And thats sitting behind an engine capable of 800HP/800lb-ft, and under the stock T56, then a TH400 and now a TH400+ Gear Vendor O/D. None of the trannies has suffered from a broken tailshaft housing. My driveshafts.... several different ones, ranging from stock steel to a 3" chrome moly have never vibrated.

I suspect there are hundreds (if not thousands) of people here running the ES poly tranny mount with stock motor mounts, and no broken tailshaft housings. In the 10 years I've been on this site, I can't recall a single post regarding a broken tailshaft housing.

I suspect it's just something that somebody somewhere guessed might possibly happen, with no specific experience to back it up.

Alright i see you are making your point on this matter in many threads.

https://www.camaroz28.com/forums/sho...ailshaft+break

but what about post #6 and #16 in that thread?

Some people wont use that config, just based on that little info.
to each his own. everyone is different. In the end they will both dampen drive train vibrations.

i'm glad your tailshift hasn't broken yet in that beast.
wouldn't want to have you to eat your own words.
But the Stock has worked perfect for me. so far.

Post #6 is repeating something he "heard"..... post #16 confirms that the person who said it has not seen it as a problem with 4th Gen F-Bodys.

I see little vallue in spreading what you have "heard" as fact, and then denying people who have actually made the swap and have first-hand experience the right to express an opinion. Its up to the original poster to make up his own mind, based on the evidence.

If you want more evidence, I'll cite George Baxter's 9.04-second, 1,125HP, 3900# 30th SS convertible.... same setup as mine, several severe drops from 3-ft wheelstands thrown in, and no tranny tailshaft problems.

I've got the same issue with the numerous people who post that a 3-point shock tower brace will crack your windshield. 13 years with mine, and no problems.
