454 BBC Progress Pictures

Here's a few photo's of my modified K-Member. It's not sitting perfectly level on the engine stand so thats why it looks a little off. But all the measurements are good and everything is equal on both sides. I originally had half an inch between the K-member and oil pan. After I welded my new brackets on there I took a 5 pound hammer and made a little more clearance.

I'm going to get my trans Friday so I'm going to bolt everything up Saturday and get some pic's of the BBC in the car. Any thoughts or comments?

Hey nice Rat motor you got there!! Should scream in the 4th gen. I bet that's going to be a lot of work to make everything right for the car. Get some pics up of it in the car when you get a chance. Good luck with it!!

IMO i would have spent a few hundred $$$ and bought a chromeoly k-member with the bbc mounts just to lose some weight since our cars are heavy and a bbc is to. It does look good though.

Re: 454 BBC Progress Pictures

I've heard too many stories of the aftermarket K-members breaking. I'm going to daily drive this car as well, mostly on weekends and at the track. I've got $50 in this K-member for the pieces I had cut to make my mounts. I went through two sets of brackets before I got it the way I wanted. I'll just save weight some other way. Besides the stock K-member isn't that heavy its the arms and stuff.
