2nd gen hood release mod

Ok so four days off and I get bored, so I thought about how to make opening the hood easier on my 2nd gen, the whole on one knee thing gets a little old and all my other vehicles have a inside hood release and I toyed with that idea but seemed a little too much for me (time and $).

Now I'm sure someone has already done this I know there are very few original ideas out there so this is my twist.

It started with a broken clutch cable from my motorcycle ( I hate to throw anything away) and a concept to activate the hood release without being on my knees. I had looked at some of the earlier 2nd gen's that had an additonal extension to the hood release that brought it closer to the bumper, wouldn't work with my `80 model.

I ran the cable through the lower portion of the grill and added enough of a **** (plastic shock bushings) so you could grab it.

I had to drill one hole in the support bracket behind the bumper for the cable to run through, but I did not make any other holes.

The cable attaches to one of the holes already in the handle.

The **** uses the hole in the lower grill for the center mount screw and unless you are really loking for it, to me it's not really noticeable.

Anyway, I've got a week off between Christmas and New Year's, wonder what trouble I'll get into then.
