1st Gen Suspension question

Hey everyone, I just picked up a 68 Convertible Camaro and I'm looking to upgrade the entire suspension.
I'm looking at BMR, Hotchkis and all the other stuff on the market. I'm on a budget, since I want to replace brakes, and a few other odds and ends.
I'm NOT looking to run autoX or track the car, this will just be a driver going to car shows, hot rod power tour and stuff like that.

Let me know what y'all think about the suspension kits on the market.

Thanks!

Just a heads up…. not like it used to be here, particularly in 2005 (your last post). Hardly anybody here. The few that are here are primarily 4th Gen LT1 or LS1 owners. Maybe you'll get lucky and a 1st Gen owner will pop in. Sad to have to post this.

Re: 1st Gen Suspension question

I know very little about first gens, but I know a few things:

BMR’s fourth-gen stuff is, in my experience, cheaper than others, and generally good enough for spirited street driving. I’ll assume their standards are consistent across all the parts they build. I’m a road course guy, and their stuff falls short of what I want, but for your needs I think it would be fine.

UMI stuff (my personal preference) is good for road course use. It’s also more expensive. I removed a bunch of BMR parts in favor of UMI stuff because I didn’t like how the car handled at the limit.

I have heard very good things about Detroit Speed. Mark Stielow is a GM engineer who has a track record of building amazing first-gen Camaros, and they are his go-to.

I don’t know much about Hotchkis, but they’ve been around a long time, which is a good sign in my book.

Honestly, for your needs, I don’t think you can go wrong with any brand you can find in a Summit catalog.
