1LE questions
1LE questions
Just wondered about some of the differences with the 1LE option camaros, my 97 SS has a driveshaft vibration above 150KPH (which I want to replace), I hear the 1LE's had an aluminum one rather than the steel one I have, now I hear about 1LE lower control arms.....whats the scoop? Why were there no SS cars with the 1LE option?
Thanks.
Thanks.
Re: 1LE questions
The 1LE could be ordered on the Z28. From my understanding the 98-00 Z28s could but in 01 and 02 SLP had the rights to the 1LE option and was only offered on the SS in those years. (I don't know about earlier fourth gens). I think the reason that few SSs received the 1LE option was because of the other suspension options available. I think most if not all LS1 cars came with a aluminum drive shaft. Plus the 98-mid 00 SSs came with the 1LE springs, in addition to the revalved shocks and bigger sway bar SSs received which I am sure didn't help sell the 1LE package. I know nothing about the 1LE control arm.
http://www.1le.net/1le_production.html That shows 80 SSs in 2001 getting the package. The first full year the SS did not receive as many suspension components standard, but then none in 2002.

Re: 1LE questions
"1LE" has been around since the 3rd gen's.
And I could probably get you a set of 1LE control arms (brand new) for cheap. A buddy of mine used to have a Z28, but never installed them and they've been sitting in his closet for a couple years.
