1998 Camaro Z28/SS

I have a 1998 Camaro Z28 with the SS package with only 65,000 miles on it and the engine blew recently. It is a 6-speed and I am the only one who drives it - it has never been abused. Does anyone know of any defects etc that might cause the engine to malfunction. I have done all the routine maintenance (oil changes etc) and it was stored every winter since I bought it. It is a numbered edition and I would like to do what I can to return it to its original mechanical state. Any suggestions out there?

Exactly what happened to the engine? "Engine blew" doesn't really tell us much. Head gasket? ..... bearings? ....broken connecting rod?

Need details of what went wrong, in order to tell you how to fix it, if possible.

These cars were meant to be driven, and actually pretty hard. Your submissive action and storage probably made the LS1 go weak and mellow - you probably blew a head gasket because it has dried up and gotten weak and then was suddenly forced to see normal driving conditions again.

Like already stated you're going to have to tell us what exactly went wrong.

...however, the '98's are known to have oil pump "problems" that the '99+ don't have. A lot of guys upgrade to a ported LS6 pump to make sure oil starvation isn't an issue.

I lost the engine in my '98 Z28 at 74K miles. I just dropped in a new crate LS6 from GM and I couldn't be happier!
