1996 z28, 6 speed, no mods. Starts OK and then proceeds to idle down or stall every time I slow down or come to a stop. Have to sit at the light with one hand on the e-brake and one foot on the accel. Any ideas?

 

I had the same problem a while back in my RS (3.8L). I ran some fuel system cleaner through a couple consecutive tanks and it went away but to be honest with you I have no idea why it did that. I really don't. Wish I could help more but that's what I did and it went away. Maybe you can try that and it'll go away.

 

Check the performance of the idle air control (IAC) motor, in the baseplate of the throttle body. Also check your EGR valve for sticking open. Then check your rubber inlet elbow for tears.
