1993 Z28 speedo question

Is the 93 Z28 speedo supposed to read to 150mph or 115mph? I have a 115 speedo in my 93 Z28, but I am thinking that the guy I bought it from switched clusters for lower miles. And if thats the case can a computer check be done on the engine to find out actual miles? Thanks for any help!!

Re: 1993 Z28 speedo question

Thanks for your help I'm not sure about the tires. What can I do to find out if it has a governor and how do I modify it? This is the first camaro I've owned, do I don't really know a whole lot about modifying it. Thanks.

The RPO code for the Z-rated tires is "QLC".

Or you can take your car up to speed and if it shuts down, it has a governor.

The Z rated tire equiped cars from the factory got 150 speedo's. Non Z rated tire cars got the limiter and 115 speedo. I was confussed about that myself many years ago. I bought a 93 Z28 and it had the 150 speedo. My buddy bought a 93 Z28 and it had the 115 I was like WTF!! lol.

Just to clarify, does this run true for all years? Say... a 2000 Z28?

The dealer sticker on my 2002 Z28 lists the "performance tires" as standard equipment. I have the 150MPH speedometer and no governor.

I'm not aware of any LS1 F-bodies with 115mph speedos and governors. Anyone?

Easiest way to tell is to run it up. To delete the governor, get a tune. And head to speeddensity.org because you've got a unique year to the 4th gen cars.
