I have a 1993 z28 camaro with an LT1 jasper crate motor. The car idles good but dies out when you shift into second gear. Are there any solutions out there?

 

Describe what you mean by "dies out" in more detail. Is the transmission ans automatic or manual? Did the engine ever run correctly, with this problem occuring only recently, or has this been a problem since the engine was first installed in the car? Have you modified the engine in any way?

Does the engine totally shut off? .....loose power? ..... stumble but continue to run?

 

Sorry I am new at this. Basically what I mean by "dieing out" is the engine just shuts off but the ignition stays on. But I am able to start it again after the engine shuts off.

I actually just bought the car as a project car a week ago. I dont think the problem has always been occurring, but the guy i bought it from was the second owner and it was occuring at the time of purchase. The car is a 6 speed manual.

The engine modifications are headers, BBK throttle body, SLP intake. Also, there is wiring for the speakers and amplifier running through out the electrical system of the car.

The car doesn't stumble to run, it actually runs pretty smoothly, but then all of a sudden shuts off and the ignition stays on.

 

Have you tried to get any trouble codes? On the '93 you can use the paper clip method.
