Angry 12 disc cd changer not working

I have a "96 TransAm that sat for a while. Now the cd changer doesn't work. I can hear it trying, but it only trys to read disc 12.Sometimes I can get it to go to 11.Then it goes back to clock, then displays "E31". Alldata code description is "can't read disc".Could not find any TSB's or other info.Do not think it is Theftloc problem because radio still works.Dealer was no help. Friend of a friend said he had similar problem.Said it was common on these cars after battery disconnect or dead. unfortunately he cannot remember how he fixed it.It is Delco brand. Not sure if this is the "Monsoon" I have been reading about. Any info much appreciated.

Monsoon error code E31 is tracking error. Book says clean the disc or try using a new disc. Make sure disc loaded correctly (label side down). Road too rough or too much humidity. If still not working service unit. Don't know if this helps....

Discs are in upside down. Tried different discs. Also tried a cleaning disc but it won't even read that. Thanks though.

Disc changers don't last forever, I'm on the 2nd one in 1998 chevy truck, but it's an after market changer

Couple more things to try. Clean the disc holder and/or the changer(inside) and make sure the door closes properly.
