wierd hard start problem

Ok here goes.Sometimes when i go somewere,go in for a bit then come back out, my 93 lt1 is hard to start.I dont hear the pump relay and if i let it sit and try it again, the relay will click then finaly start. Iv replaced the relay and its still doing it.It compleatly shut off going down the road one time but only once.It was like i turned the whole car off. When it finally starts,i have a low erratic idle.It idles at 600 and around 500 in gear. The car misses but never dies.always starts right up,no miss when cold.Any ideas?Oh new opti plugs wires this summer.

Update:Had the ICM checked out.Parts store kept resetting the test for about 30 min.It got hot, but checked out good. Was cool enouph to handle. I Have a piece of wire, so next time it does it i can hook up the pump relay bypass to see if its my pump or something else.Update:Went to work, stalled.Tryed the fuel wire by the computer .The pump worked so its not that.

Check your ECM for codes. That may turn up problems with the IC Module, and with the low resolution pulse from the Opti, both of which may cause it to stall, or prevent it from starting. You can scan your 93 simply by shorting the pins in the ALDL connector, to "flash" the codes on the SES light.

The PASS-key system may also prevent it from starting.

Scanned codes at Autozone.Nuthing.Im thinking it still might be my pump cause i was using thicker wire than whats on my car to bypass the relay, and it started to melt.Like pump is pulling to many amps.

Well it gradually starts to miss, lopey idle then stall.i had it idling for two hours and never changed but once I got the rpms up,and drove it a few miles it started to miss like it was going to shut off again but didnt. The coil sounded kinda noisy.I know its supposed to make noise cause its producing high voltage but this was louder than normal.

Did AutoZone use the correct OBD-I scanner?

Good question. It asked for the vin, year ect .Then it said no codes available.I have a code key, looks like as key with two prongs, and still flashed 12 over and over,no codes.Im now getting a strong fuel smell under the hood.I cant tell if its a raw,or not fully burned smell like running rich.Only happens while running. All i know is its perfect if i let it sit at idle even for a long time, but as soon as i drive it a little, the idle rpms come eratic.then it shuts down and it takes 5 to 10 min to get it running again.

Might check the map sensor. It's that little black thing on top of the intake manifold. If the gasket is toast, this will do that. Also, check to see if the coil wire is good or on tight.hope this helps.(of course you have changed the gas filter).

Pull the vacuum line off the fuel pressure regulator and check for raw fuel.

Verify that the coolant temp sensor in the water pump is accurate.
