Vacuum line hook up
Vacuum line hook up
Need to know if there is an easy way to hook the vacuum line for the HVAC back up to the block! Dealer quote to repair is over $600.00. With the line disconnected I can't control the HVAC output and it defaults to defogger.
For starters, you need to tell us what year/model/engine your car is.
If its a 4th Gen, the check valve usually falls apart, and needs to be replaced. Shoebox has info that applies to most 4th Gens:

LT1 specific:

Yeah, I've checked that out before. The vacuum line hook up is on the very back of the intake manifold. I did the checks and determined there was no vacuum present at the canister. I was hoping someone might know of a way to reconnect the vacuum line without having to remove the intake!
Assuming your car is an LT1, its the top vacuum port on the passenger side in the middle of the intake manifold. There are no ports on the back of the manifold.

Where the vacuum connection is located makes very little difference... you just need to find a friend who can reach back there and hook up a new vacuum line. No way that is a $600 repair. But have it your way.

The vehicle is a 2000 Camaro SS LS1 6SPD. It would take an anorexic long armed double jointed friend to reach the connection and reattach the vacuum line, I have no such friend. I have tried several times to create a sig line, to no avail. The $600.00 was a quote from the local Chevy dealer and in no way is it my way. That is why I came here seeking some help. Thanks for your courtesy and commiseration!
