time for a fuel cell??

i switched to an aeromotive a1000 setup, -10 feed and -6 return.
to startoff with we pulled the stock tank, pulled out the can and installed bulkheads in the bottom of the tank for the feed and return.

after driving the car this year i had some cavitation issue's due to the lack of a baffle system. it's pretty difficult to get in there to weld so we decided to try without.

anyway, hit the track for the first time in a few years and on the third run i had an electric fire where the tank harness plugs into the chassis. it's the same area i mounted my relay for the harness.

anyway, i'm inclided to pull the stock tank, take the plasma cutter to the trunk pan and do some sheet work to install a fuel cell.
two big issues, one finding a fuel cell with a -10 feed
and the other is having the fuel cell inside the car

it's a daily driver so i'm not crazy about popping the hatch to fill the tank.and i need a decent sized tank, something bigger than stock maybe, right now i'm filling up every 200 miles. cars getting around 20mpg.

pics of existing setups would be great as well as what you would do different.

thanks
mike

You are required to install a bulkhead if you put the cell inside the hatch area. Wolfe makes one that is NHRA accepted.

One of the neatest setups I saw was on Madman's Trans Am... the fuel cell was in the stock tank location, but the fill was reached through a hatch cut into the vertical wall of the hatch storage area.

yeah, i found that bulkhead in a search.

also how have you guys run your power and fuel lines? right now mine are traveling through the tunnel up to the engine, i'd rather have my main power to my fuel pump routed seperate, and i'm not sure if the braided line it ok there or not.

oh yeah, another thing.

whats the story on foam in a fuel cell? i'm guessing it would greatly help the cavitation issues as well as control slosh, why wouldn't you want foam, does it cause any nasty restrictions?

I have a 16 gallon fuel cell in my car, but it's a '69 Camaro. You do want the foam. After 15 - 20 years I have heard of the foam breaking up and clogging fuel systems.
