throttle body gasket

I noticed the gasket on the tb cover with the 6 bolts was ripped so I ordered a new one. but the original is a full body rubber gasket and new gasket only covers the perimeter of cover any ideas or thought .Thanks Richard

It only needs to seal the perimeter.
