Stays running while holding key

My 94 Camaro V6 will not stay running. If I turn the key to start, and let go of the key like normal, the engine will fire for about one second, then die. BUT, if I continue to hold the key at a certain position after the car fires up, the car will stay running and I can drive it around the block, as long as I continue to hold the key on.
I have replaced, the ignition cylinder and key, with matching resistance from GM. Replaced the fuel pump.
Any ideas????

Have you replaced the actual ignition switch (located on the lower part of the column) or tried to adjust it?

There is a replacement guide on my Tech Page. As far as adjustment for an already installed switch, you can make small changes and test it out.

We replaced the ignition switch and the car fired up on the first try. Your descriptions and illustrations/photos made the job go very smoothly. Thanks so much for your help!!!!
