ignition switch or key and tumbler

ok guys so i have looked on line and read posts im still not sure to im asking the experts heres my problem. When you go to cycle the key it gos to run the radio will come on and the windows work the key will turn all the way to start but nothing happens. The dash lights do not come on like they normally would and the fuel pump is not running either. The security light is not coming on so i dont think its the VATs system im pretty sure by what i read its the ignition switch but do i need to change both or just the switch any help to figure out what one or if i should change both would be great. Thank you in advance Jeremy

You would need to do some investigation to see if the movement of the key cylinder is providing the necessary movement at the switch. If so, the switch needs to be replaced (or the connector to the switch is not making good contact). Ignition switch replacement is quite common. If you have read other threads you probably came across a guide for replacement on my Tech Page.
