Starter Problem
Starter Problem
Ok so my starter started going out a couple weeks ago it would click and then eventually start. So it went out completely so I put a new one on and it worked for a week or so and started clicking again so I got it tested and it was still good. anyone had a similiar problem or know what I need to do?
Clicking is due to not getting enough current to the solenoid. Either battery is bad (cheap auto parts batteries) or it is not rated high enough. OR you have a poor connection that requires more current than the battery can provide.
One spot that is over looked is the ground strap from the frame to the engine on the drivers side. Pull it and others like the positive and negative cluster on the passenger inner fender and make the cables and the mounting point clean and shiney.
If you still have the same problem, use jumper cables directly to the starter to see if it will turn correctly. If so, you still have a wiring/connector issue.

ok so I havent had a chance to go back home and work on my car yet but I guess my dad was messing with it and he thinks the new starter is bad and isn't getting enough juice to turn the car over...doesn't quit sound right to me but we're getting a new starter again and going to see if it works. The last one I got worked for about a week and then broke so I think its something else but who knows.
