So... I'm in the middle of the trap door mod...

I have the pump out and I'm working on installing the new pump. What adhesive do I need to use to seal the bucket? Also, do I need to use any adhesive on the rubber hose included with the kit or on the little sock that goes on the bottom of the pump? The new pump seems to rattle around inside the bucket slightly when I shut it. Do I need the bucket? I've seen install pics where the bucket is discarded. Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks

Ben

What "kit" are you using? The popular Racetronix kit includes a tube of glue. If not, any fuel-safe epoxy would work fine to seal the bucket. You can also use some safety wire too. I drilled a few small holes in the lid/bucket and fastened it that way as well.

No adhesive on the hose or the sock.

The bucket, IMO, is necessary on any car that sees any amount of street time. It keeps the pump constantly immersed in fuel keeping it cool and prevents exposure to atmosphere. The pump can move slightly in the bucket but if it's rattling around you either a.) don't have it seated enough into the bottom hole or b.) it's missing the foam ring around the top.

I guess it wasn't rattling around, i was seated properly but had just a bit of wiggle room, which the stock pump didn't have. Also, there is absolutely no room for a hose clamp on the fuel pump end of the new hose. Will it be ok to just have one at the top of the hose since the bracket prevents the bucket from sliding down?
