Quick fuel pressure sender location question please.

Does your fuel pressure gauge sender need to be on the feed side of the FPR or on the return to tank side of the regulator? This is on my parallel rail setup with an Aeromotive reg. Got the car running tonight, but my gauge is reading zero pressure. Sender connection is hooked back up also. Thanks.

on the feed side. Get rid of the AM regulator also. They are garbage.

Thanks for the answer. Whats garbage about the aeromotives? My last aeromotive LT1 reg worked like a champ for years. I'll swap it if i have problems, but for now, it's in there.

Where the fuel pressure gauge needs to be located depends on the type of fuel pressure regulator you have, and where it is located in the system (recric thru rails, or dead end to rails). With a parallel rail system, is would appear you are not using an LT1 regulator mounted to the back of the driver's side rail. Its only the Aeromotive LT1 regulator that appears to be the victim of frequent failures. Their other products are high quality, so a "universal" regulator is going to be fine.

Tell us more about the fuel system, and we can tell you where to locate the gauge.

I just finished up a parallel rail system Fred. It's a universal Aeromotive. Single -8an feed to y block to rear of rails. Then out the top of each rail into each side of the regulator. Then a single -6an out the regulator as a return. I have my sender mounted on the return side of the regulator, but like stated above, it would appear it needs to be on the feed side. I have 0 pressure, but the car is running, so i know thats not true. Just can't get my FP dialed in without the gauge working. Heres a pic of the setup. Sender is mounted at the rear of the reg, but thinking now that i should add it to the front side of my feed Y block.

Front of Y block here...

Isn't that hole on "top" (in the photo) of the regulator, with the small brass plug in it, for the pressure sensor? You definitely don't want it on the return side of the regulator.

It is Fred, but with the regulator in that location, there is no room under the cowl to fit anything in there, so i'll have to mount it elsewhere inline. Thanks.

My solution was to weld a 1/8" NPT bung on the passenger side fuel rail.

Best bet would probalby be to run an -8AN "gauge block" in one branch of the "Y", before it enters the back of the rail.

That was my plan Fred. Already have a gauge block waiting at the house for when i get back in town to work on it again. Thanks.
