question about starting problem im having.

my car has been sitting for about 2 months since the last time i started it. I recently tried starting it and im getting a ticking noise. I had a friend try and jump it and it got no where. Still same clicking noise. Everything is working just some things like lights horn, and windows are slower. Only had one problem with the battery before and i got it jumped and never had a problem with it again. Dont know if i possibly something is draining power while its off or not. Any suggestions would be nice. I dont have many tools to test things and what not but if someone has any idea where i should start that would be great. thanks

Sounds like your battery may have in internal short. When you try and jump a battery with an internal short, it will still not start. Try disconnecting the car battery, and connecting the jumper cables directly to the positive and negative cables in your car.

If that doesn't work, it may be a problem with severe corrosion of the ends of the wires to the starter.

The clicking is the starter solenoid. There's not enough voltage/amps to allow the solenoid to move the drive gear forward to engage the ring gear.

The only problem with removing the battery completely is most jumper cables cannot carry the ~400amps required to crank the engine very fast so often what happens is you get slow crank or clicking for the same reason as a bad battery (not able to supply enough amperage).
