Talking Overloads And Dies After Repair..... HELP

Posted this in LT1 Tech & forced induction with no resolution..... sorry for duplicating, but I'm desperate.

Thank god for this site!!!!! I am new to LT1's and EFI..... You guy's have helped me out a ton already with other issues!!! THANKS. Just recently purchased car and I'm learning!!

Had to replace blown head gasket. Also took the opportunity to replace all 3 seals on timing cover to address leaks, Have zero experience with newer EFI cars, so I marked marked every connection and hose pretty well (I thought) as I disassembled.

The car had a a rich tune to start off with, but the car ran awesome prior to the repair!! I was planning on having it professionally tunned down the road to adjust the slightly rich tune. It has 55# injectors, which I know is a bit steep, but was told it could be tuned to work.

The car idles, but when you drive the car it overloads and dies. When you try to restart, black and little bit of white smoke comes out the tail pipes (oil look fine). Like I said the car was on the rich side before, but it never overloaded and died, or burned your eyes when idling in the garage.

Almost seems as the fuel pressure is too high..... Is it normal to feel a pulse and a clicking sound from the fuel line??

What could I have done to to cause this. Please, any assistance would be appreciated.

Please help!!

Are the 55# injectors high or low impedance?

Is the tune based on a 1bar, or 2bar MAP sensor?

You say you are going to get a "professional" tune.... who tuned it the way it sits right now?

You say the fuel pressure is high..... what is it?

How did you adjust your valves after the head gasket replacement? Are you sure they aren't too tight, allowing air to bleed from the exhaust valves, causing a false lean condition, forcing the PCM to add fuel it doesn't need?

Can we assume you don't have an FMU?

Are you sure you hooked the MAF sensor back up, and didn't damage the pins on the harness connector? Installed in the correct direction?

OK.... went back and looked at the responses you got on the other forums... you did get some on the Forced Induction forum, and you were already asked some of the same questions I just asked. You indicated in the other forum that you have a problem with the MAF being loose. Looks like you may have already found a problem... did you follow up on the earlier thread?

That's the problem with posts on multiple forums... what's already been asked and answered has been "lost" to the new readers. And, if you don't follow up with the suggestions that have already been made, its not likely people are going to continue to help....

Just an observation based on almost 9 years of posting here.....
