Opti problem

When I did my cam swap I changed my opti with one from Auto Zone. The car has ran fine. But for the last two weeks when I go wot it pops and bogs. One other thing is if I let off real quick and put it back to wot it clears up. My guess is the Auto Zone opti.

What year is your engine? Without that, you are limiting the ability of people to help you. If its a 95-97, did you check the length of the dowel pin, to insure it isn't pushing on the Opti?

Why not add a "signature" with basic infor about your car, year, model, tranny type and any major mods. Thart will help people answer your questions.

What Fred said. In case your wondering about the AutoZone opti's, i had one on my car for quite a few miles with no issues at all. But Fred is right. Some years had different length dowel pins on the cams. If you got a cam with the longer dowel pin and you needed the shorter pin (the length isn't much different, but makes a huge difference with the opti) then when you bolt the opti back up, it will run good for a short time but tear up the opti fast, then start running like garbage.

I checked the length eventhough I ordered the cam for a 1996 and it was right. I did the cam about 10,000 miels ago.

I like NGK TR55's for NA applications, but a lot of people swear by Autolites... I think those are the two that are most common in the performance F-Body crowd.
