Not the usual opti problems

Hey I have a 95 z that we put a 93 lt1 in. Over the past months we have gone through 2 optisparks. First, the car cranks and wont start. We aren't getting any spark. We change the opti and it starts right up and runs for a month or so, and then the same thing happens. Each time we change an opti it runs fine and some weeks later, stops running. The prongs in the lead to the opti aren't bent.

Any suggestions or experience with this problem would be great thanks.

What goes wrong with the Opti - optical sensor, rotor hitting cap, filled with oil or coolant, etc?

What troubleshooting did you do to prove the opti was at fault?

None exactly to the opti itself. Just checked if we were getting spark and we weren't. Also in the past we took one off and put another on and the car fired right up. I'm in the process of taking the 93 opti off of the engine (since its a 93 lt1) and were going to put the original 95+ opti on it (came with the original engine). I'm almost positive it will run again after that, I just don't know how long it's going to last again.

You can't just throw the 95 opti on there. The drive mechanisms are not the same. Maybe you already know it will take more work than that.

you probably have a bad connections at your coil and icm if your, just swapping optis and then its firing right up.your opti pig tail doesnot have to have bent pins to loose connection they get heat soaked from the engine and then loose connection, you maybe resablishing the connection when swapping optis, if it was me i would get another opti harness and swap that before tearing it all down
