Fuel Pump taking a dump or ??? (edit)

After I drive for about 50 miles, the SES light comes on and the car just bogs out. It's got 154k miles on the original fuel pump and I'm thinking that it's gotta be the problem and wouldn't hurt to put a 255 in there anyhow. I've not had the time to scan for the correct codes to assure it's the issue and it's only after I'm driving some distance so I'm thinking that it gets hot and starts taking a schitt. I can let it sit for a few and it'll start right up and run great.....for another short while till it "gets hot" again.

Somebody just say the word and I'll do the damn thing. I wanna anyway so.

What's the best deal out there? Not really into dropping the 250 for the "walbro with aftermarket plug" setup but do like the walbro since I've had luck with em.

Thanks guys,
Ivan

Why go through the trouble of replacing the pump, rather than taking the time to check the code(s). What if the IC Module is getting heat soaked, and shorting out, for example? The code might tell you that.

Great point. I wasn't aware of a code that would point to that to be honest. I'm hoping to get some few hours to work on it today. I'll try that out and see if I can find some more definititive answer.

Thanks Inj. I was disappointed to see that it took almost 20 views for someone to answer. I remember CZ28 being alot more interactive in the 2 way manner and not the "viewing" manner.

Must not be as many Mechanics on here as there used to be....

Take care,
Ivan

People view the posts based on the "topic". I suspect a lot of people clicked on yours to see what it was all about. "Cute" topic gets attention, but not from the right people.

That's why its generally a good idea to put a more precise description in the topic, so that the only people who look are the people who feel they can help.

Great point...didn't see it like that when I started the thread.

I did hear something funky as hell today when I went out to start it up for a friend. It was almost like a clinking/empty coke can rattle coming from up front (engine bay) with the KOEO. I did not hear the fuel pump prime at all, but it did start right up.

Should I be investigating that noise from up front and if so, where do I start....

Still waiting on the fuel pump that should be here tomorrow or Tuesday.

...and I need to find out what those codes are, I just don't have access to the scanner without going to Autozone.

Just kinda afraid that, with my luck, it'll leave me stranded between here and there.

Thanks,
Ivan
