ignition and gage issue!!!

I have a 95 z28, bought her about a month ago and the key has always been a little tricky. It got stuck a few times but I just moved the steering wheel and she starts right up. Tonight after eating dinner I turned the car over but the gages didn't stay on. They went back off even though the rest of the car was still in turned over mode and if I try to start it up it won't stay on. I jiggled it pretty good and it stated right back up. I checked all the fuses and they're all good. I drove home and it's been doing the same thing ever since but I wiggled it to no avail.... Any advice guys?

Re: ignition and gage issue!!!

Shoebox has a guide to ignition switch problems, noting the most common fault - which appears to describe your problem accurately - and a replacement procedure. Start with the first paragraph which describes the no gauges, no start condition.

Re: ignition and gage issue!!!

I fixed my ignition switch using Shoebox's guide. I didn't however undo the negative battery or undo the brake light thing but the brake lights still work. The only issues I'm having is brights and blinkers do not come back on and I'm getting a service engine soon code now.... Any help would be amazing. Thanks guys.

Re: ignition and gage issue!!!

Scan the PCM for codes. There are codes specific to the fan control circuits.

Scanning a 95 is difficult because of the OBD-1 PCM coupled with the 16-pin OBD-2 style ALDL connector. Look at the "sticky" thread at the top of the "Computer Diagnostics....." forum, for info on Scan9495, free download of scanning software specifically for your car.

Re: ignition and gage issue!!!

PLEASE - post a problem on ONLY one forum. I see you have now moved this over to the "General 67-02 F-Body Tech" forum, so I'll close this one. Also no need to repost a duplicate as you did above.
