Ignition to computer link ?????
I have a 1992 camaro Z28 Conv. The car, before I bought it, had someone break-in and punched the ignition. The owner had lost the key and installed a new GM Ignition and monkeyed with the wiring to computer. I had a mechanic install a new ignition with a key with the proper chip for the computer link. He says, he needs to find a anti-theft device hidden in the car to connect to the computer to function. He said, he cannot find it. I hope someone has the knowledge to help get it going again.

How do you know he installed a key with the correct pellet resistance? How did the mechanic determine which resistance was required? When the previous owner "monkied with the wiring to the computer", did it involve adding a resistor of a specific value to match the one that was in his original key? Did the ignition switch successfully start the car BEFORE you decided to replace the switch with the correct one?
Don't know the specifics of the 3rd Gen VATS system, but Chiltons manual wiring diagrams indicate it is similar to the 4th Gens. Shoebox has a diagram of the VATS system for the 4th Gens:
