Ignition coil keeps frying?

I'm new to the page and not sure how to go about asking about this, or if this is the correct way to go about it but, i have a 96 z28 lt1, I've replaced my ignition coil and module 3 different times but each time my Camaro will crank and run for a few mins or seconds, or until I rev the engine 2 or 3 times then something keeps frying my ignition coil., I've replaced my crankshaft position sensor also and still end up with the same results each time, my Opti is less than 2 years old as well as the full pump, I've been told by the previous owner that there's a short in my engine wiring harness but wasn't to make sure before spending $200-$300 on a harness and paying to have it replaced. Does my issue sound like anything that's common in the 4th gens to anybody?

ICM is frequently subject to heat soak, breaking down and requiring replacement. But seldom see problems with the coil.

Did you pull codes?

How did you determine the coil was damaged? Did you measure the resistance? What brand were the replacements?

What led you to replace the crankshaft position sensor? That has no effect on the coil. In fact it's just there to detect misfires, not required for the engine to run.

Changed the Opti also as well as the icm and it will crank now but will barely run, is it possible I got it outta time when I replaced the Opti by any chance?

It is possible to misalign the cam dowel pin in the back of the Opti.

Are you sure you have all the plug wires in the correct location?
