Fuel in tank for one year...any good?

My car has sat while doing an engine rebuild for a year with about 1/4 tank of fuel in it. I'll replace the fuel filter anyway, but is that too long for fuel to sit in the tank? I'll be starting this thing up soon and want to make sure it will be ok. If it is, should I just run it out and then fill it up, or go ahead and fill it up with new fuel while to old stuff is in it still??

I did it in mine when it sat for 2 years...add as much new as possible. Also DONT do the fuel filter til after because it will get trashed anyways. I also added some lucas fuel treatment. it is not recommended to do this but oh well, either drain the whole thing or just do preventive maintenance after it is empty and filled a couple times..

Put a couple of gallons of fresh in it and burn it. I would prefer to drain it if it doesn't involve removing the tank.
