fuel schrader valve....stem

I took the n20 off the car a couple of days ago, and lost the stem that goes in the schrader valve.
Called local GM shop and they told me $34.
Are all GM vehicles using the same setup?
What is my best option for this part?
Thanks in advance

P.S. at the moment I cant take the fuel solenoid off until I have this.

don't quote me, but I believe a schrader valve is one universal standard. I believe every component is the same standard size.

however, I'd be wary of using a tire valve, because the rubber seal may be a different type and won't hold up to gasoline exposure. If you don't want to pay $34 for the valve you could just put on an -AN cap. AN-4 is the size I believe, they're like $5 for 2 at most places.

I had the same problem on a car that I was fixing for a friend, the schrader valve stem in their car was fried, and leaking gas everywhere. I checked with every normal auto parts store around and couldn't find anything other than a tire stem core, which I ended up using. I imagine that the real core will not have a rubber seal.

Advanced doesn't carry -AN gear.

Well thanks for the replies guys. I will go in search of a spare rim someone has laying around.
Then put the -4AN cap for insurance.

just go to a tire shop, the valves cores are laying all over my place, theyd give you a brand new one prolly, then i would go with the -4an cap like said. you shouldnt have any problems at all. few months from now, take the cap off and see if the core is leaking or not.

Here's a -4AN cap if you can't find it locally: http://store.summitracing.com/egnsea...115+4294906750

Thanks alot OBE, I actually couldnt find it anywhere! I looked in the summit catalog at home and couldnt find it, but figured they would have it.

By any chance this wouldnt be the stem would it? I posted a thread on this part a while back when I did my fuel pump and noone knew what it was.

That photo isn't the stem, the stem would have threads, a spring and a seal on it.

Just curious if schrader valves are a universal standard and its cap takes -an 4 which is 1/4 inch. Why is my schrader valve cap 7/16 x 20 that goes to my fuel pressure test valve? Excuse my ignorance.
