Fuel pump relay?

I think I have a problem with my fuel pump relay or wiring. When I start the car then turn the car off and try to start it again the car will sometimes die, like it is out of fuel. Then the car will not start for some time. I found that my fuel pump was not coming on when the car would not start. So I decided to check out the fuel pump relay on the driver side floor board. I started to mess with the wires while the car was running then I felt the relay click and the car died. It would not start again and the pump would not turn on. I played with the wires again and then the car started. Also the relay feels hot. I am wondering if the problem is the relay or the fuel pump relay pig tail.

That's something you will have to determine with a little testing. Seems you're right on top of your problem.

I would check the socket with a multimeter. Pin 30 ~12v Pin 87 ~12v Pin 86 or 85 should have ~12v and the other should have almost 0 when the key is engaged. If everything is working right in the relay voltage should goto 0v on 87 and you should read ~12v on 87A When the key is turned to Ignition not start.

Ok thanks guys I traced it down to the pig tail. I fixed that now I have to find out what is causing my miss. I am thinking plugs or wires.
