Fuel Pump Basket/Walbro Pump

How much pressure should it take to seat the pump into the basket? Feels like the pump is too large to seat in the hole. I see people talking about webbing or whatever that might need to be removed, the only thing is there are 3 'nipples' in that hole but I can not cut them out and get a smooth surface and I do not think those should be removed.

I did not try it without the o-ring since that needs to be on there. The other walbro pump I used just slipped right in.

Any comments or suggestions?

How far is it from seating? I've been through it a few times and I only had one that seated right, The others were maybe 1/16" pr 1/32" apart. I just put them in a clamp with the glue and let them dry and haven't had any issues.

I have not put the 'top' on to see if it is sitting low enough in the bucket, I thought it would seat in the hole and 'hold itself' upright to an extent and put the top on.
My other pump sits in the hole without issue.
